Posers vs Doers

Our voice isn’t in what we say, it’s in what we do, and there seems to be way more “saying” going on out there than there is “doing.” Our thoughts and actions in love are what change the world around us, thereby sending others forth to hopefully act in turn.

As I work out in the “volunteer world,” and engage with different church groups, I see two different kinds of churches in the fold. Those focused on “ideology,” where they hold “programs and classes” that tell us how we should treat each other according to some “worldly narrative,” and I see church groups that are all in, actually going out most days in the footsteps of Christ and learning through experience, actually meeting people where they live rather than proclaiming ourselves “allies” from our glass houses. They sit with the marginalized, converse, and hopefully bring them to some level of accountability through loving contact that will help them get through life on their own with God’s help.

There are posers, and there are doers. Posers tend to be about ideology, while doers tend to be about Truth through action. Posers like to enable, while “doers” bring true accountability to the table. Posers tend to be political. Doers have the better sense to leave their “politics” outside as they go forth and proclaim the Gospel.

It’s hard to tell lies when we’re immersed in the reality of others. It’s very easy when we’re “showing a video” or rendering an ideology which may or may not be so ridiculously out of context to even be redeemable.

As Christians we are called to engage, “heal the sick, raise the dead etc,” and most of all, leave our “politics” outside, because all they typically amount to is whining and dividing.

We’re called to heal, and to “sin no more.” As a Church, (Roman Catholic) we seem to be segueing away from these things, and relinquishing all forms of accountability so we can appear “inclusive,” through a political lens that is only “inclusive” to those with whom we agree. Division brought forth by Satan. As a laity I pray that we be aware, finding ways to serve in truth, not just sitting in our “classrooms” having “conversations” that foster untruth and division. Being all in means taking off the mask, breathing the same air and touching the souls around us, seeing their soul through their eyes, that we all might grow together in truth, and in love. Fully united through, with, and in Him.❤️🙏
